1K a year Responsible for the day to day supervision and execution of in-house construction activities and other designated projects, including select maintenance projects across campus.
Ensure all work is completed in an efficient, professional and first-class manner.
Partner with other Physical Plant leaders and staff, including the Facilities Manager, Physical Plant Director and Physical Plant Administrator.
Essential Functions:
Oversees planning and execution of in-house construction and designated maintenance services on campus.
It is expected that this role will include significant daily hands-on construction and maintenance services and skills.
Work may require activities outside of normal working hours, including weekends as necessary.
Work closely with all PP employees to develop and increase the PP department's skill level.
Make appropriate recommendations for cost savings, efficiencies and conservation efforts.
Prepare reports as requested that track activities, durations, and performance.
Maintain a safe and orderly work environment at all times.
Ensure in-house construction and maintenance activities comply at all times with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding occupational health, safety, and environmental concerns.
Be a good steward of all College property, materials, buildings, grounds, and resources.
Ensure good housekeeping of the Physical Plant and all work areas.
Support the PP Director and Administrator with inventory control, purchasing, and work order systems.
Supervise and support student employees as assigned.
Serve as a back-up operator for the campus boiler system.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision Given:
Directly supervise carpentry, painting, and other PP employees as assigned.
Supports the grounds, housekeeping, and other facility employees, as needed.
Minimum
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in commercial construction and maintenance, with a strong skillset in various construction and maintenance trades.
Experience in planning and executing a wide range of construction and maintenance tasks, supervising and deploying staff, and day to day problem solving.
Ability to read and interpret construction and contract documents, drawings, blueprints, logic ladder diagrams, and sketches.
Good communication and negotiation skills.
Computer skills:
Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail.
Preferred
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in facilities management and construction, with a strong working familiarity with HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance.
Experience with contract management and scheduling software and/or project management software.
Other:
Ability to learn and administer College and departmental operating policies, procedures, guidelines, and systems.
Ability to interpret and apply written information; speak concisely and effectively; listen to and understand information and ideas as presented verbally; communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely in writing; and organize information clearly and precisely.
May require work outside of normal working hours including weekends as necessary; walking over uneven terrain and climbing stairs; bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities, and lifting moderately heavy items.
The work may require specific but common physical capacities and abilities, such as lifting up to fifty (50) pounds and team lifting of one hundred (100) pounds or more.
